Meet the Owner

Welcome to JRP THERAPY CARE PLLC. I'm Jessele R. Ortiz, I founded this practice to utilize the skills that I have acquired as a speech language pathologist, combined with my passion to follow Jesus Christ,  to offer a place where clinical knowledge and faith intersect. My desire is to create a space that promotes Joy, Renewal, and Peace. The mission is to help clients meet their cognitive-communication and swallowing goals through real-life, meaningful tasks, along with evidence-based ideas, to achieve an improved quality of life.

I discovered my passion to work with the adult and geriatric population in graduate school, after I was assigned my first adult client. He was a retired Air Force pilot recovering from a stroke. Despite a language and motor speech disorder, his eyes were full of light and a strong desire to improve his communication to reconnect with his family. Witnessing his journey, and collaborating with his dedicated spouse, was a life-changing experience. I saw firsthand, the profound, positive impact an SLP can have on a patient's life participation, which ignited my desire to compassionately provide speech therapy to adults with neurological disorders.

Jessele specializes in treating adults with brain based communication disorders. She obtained her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from Our Lady of the Lake University. She is licensed with the State of Texas and certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. After graduation, she worked in the acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation settings. After leading the TBI committee for the hospital's rehabilitation department, she developed a deep understanding of the vital collaboration required between clinical staff and caregivers to support the patient's complex needs that extend beyond therapy. Jessele is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, and her clinical interests include TBI, stroke, aphasia, dysphagia and cognitive disorders. She received the ASHA Award for Continuing education for her achievement in advanced clinical learning.  In her free time, Jessele loves to spend quality time with her family, nature, softball, books, and serving alongside her local church.
